Appearance

Ayanokoji is a teenage boy of average height. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and almost always wears a blank, bored expression. Because he wants to go unnoticed, his posture and body language are very relaxed.

However, underneath his school uniform, he has an incredibly muscular, athletic body built from years of extreme physical training. His body is covered in faded scars from his childhood.

Personality & "The Tool Mindset"

At first glance, Ayanokoji seems lazy and quiet. He does not try to make friends, avoids joining clubs, and claims he just wants a peaceful school life.

In reality, his mind operates like a cold, calculating machine. Because of his harsh childhood, he has what fans call the "Tool Mindset."

  • Zero Empathy: He views every single human being including his allies, his teachers, and his girlfriend as tools to be used and thrown away. He does not help people because it is the right thing to do; he helps them only if it benefits him.
  • Always Hiding: He hates standing out. He intentionally scored exactly 50 out of 100 on every entrance exam just to blend in. If a brilliant plan succeeds, he forces someone else (usually Suzune Horikita) to take all the credit.
  • Curious About Humanity: Despite being cold, Ayanokoji is fascinated by normal people. He wants to know what love, friendship, and sadness feel like, even if he cannot truly feel them himself yet.

Background

To understand Ayanokoji, you must understand the White Room.

The White Room is a secret, illegal laboratory created by his wealthy and powerful father, Professor Ayanokoji. The facility's goal is to strip away human emotion and use extreme methods to create "perfect" human beings who can eventually rule Japan.

  • The Demonic Fourth Generation: Ayanokoji was placed in the 4th generation of the White Room. This group had the hardest, most brutal rules in the history of the lab.
  • The Sole Survivor: The training was so difficult that every other child in his age group suffered a mental breakdown or collapsed. Ayanokoji was the only child to survive.
  • The Masterpiece: Because he conquered the impossible curriculum, the adults who run the facility view him as a god. He is considered their ultimate success story.

Ayanokoji escaped the White Room when it had to shut down for one year. He hid in the Advanced Nurturing High School because it is backed by the government, making it the only place his father cannot legally reach him.

True Abilities

Because of the White Room, Ayanokoji's skills are basically superpowers compared to normal high school students.

Mental Genius

  • Flawless Memory: He remembers everything he reads, sees, and hears.
  • Master Strategist: He can predict what other people will do days or weeks before they do it. He sets up invisible traps that his enemies walk right into.
  • Academic Perfection: He can solve complex, college level math and science problems in seconds.

Physical Power

  • Martial Arts Expert: He is trained in multiple deadly fighting styles. He easily defeated four tough gang members on a rooftop without taking a single scratch, and he did it without even trying his hardest.
  • Extreme Speed: He is fast enough to keep up with the school's top athletes, including the Student Council President.
  • No Reaction to Pain: If someone punches him or cuts him, his face remains completely blank. He does not let pain slow him down.

Key Relationships

Ayanokoji pulls the strings of almost everyone in the school. Here is how he views the most important people around him:

  • Suzune Horikita: His main cover. He uses her as the public leader of Class D. He pushes her to grow and become a better leader so she can take the attention away from him.
  • Kakeru Ryuen: The violent leader of Class C. Ayanokoji completely crushed Ryuen's spirit in a fight, only to slowly build him back up into a smarter, more dangerous rival.
  • Arisu Sakayanagi: The genius leader of Class A. She is one of the only students who knows about the White Room. She respects Ayanokoji but desperately wants to defeat him in a fair game to prove that natural talent is better than artificial training.
  • Professor Ayanokoji (His Father): Ayanokoji's main enemy. His father constantly sends secret agents (like Tsukishiro and White Room students) into the school to try and get Ayanokoji expelled so he will return home.

His Ultimate Goal

Why is Ayanokoji helping his weak class if he only cares about himself?

His true goal is to destroy his father's ideology. Professor Ayanokoji believes that the White Room is the only way to make someone strong, and that normal people are useless.

Kiyotaka wants to prove his father wrong. By helping the "defective" students of Class D grow, he hopes to turn them into an unstoppable team. Deep down, Ayanokoji wants to be defeated. He wants to build up his classmates so much that they eventually become strong enough to beat him. If normal students can defeat the White Room's masterpiece, it proves his father's life work was a failure.
