Haruki Yamauchi: The Traitor Who Got Caught

If you watched the anime, you probably remember Haruki Yamauchi as one of the "Three Idiots" of Class D. He was not very smart, he was not good at sports, and he spent most of his time slacking off or trying to peep on the girls. But being a bad student is not actually what got him expelled. What got him kicked out was being a traitor to his friends.

At the end of their first year, the school held a really cruel test called the Class Poll Exam. The rules were simple but terrible: every class was forced to vote to expel one of their own classmates. Someone had to go home, no matter what.

Arisu Sakayanagi, the super-smart and scary leader of Class A, decided to mess with Class D for her own entertainment. She went to Yamauchi and made him a fake promise. She told him that if he could convince his classmates to vote against Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, she would give Yamauchi enough "good" votes from her own class to save him. Yamauchi got greedy. He started whispering to everyone behind their backs, trying to get them to vote Ayanokoji out.

But you do not mess with Ayanokoji. Ayanokoji figured out the plan almost instantly. He worked with Suzune Horikita to expose Yamauchi's lies in front of the whole class. When Class D realized Yamauchi was willing to throw a quiet classmate under the bus just to save his own skin, they were totally disgusted. The whole class turned on Yamauchi, voting him out. He was expelled, leaving behind a harsh lesson: loyalty matters, and betrayal will cost you everything.

Yahiko Totsuka: In the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

Next is Yahiko Totsuka. His story is actually really sad because he did not do anything wrong. He was just a normal guy caught in the middle of a huge fight between two very powerful people.

Yahiko was in Class A, which is the smartest and best class in the first year classes. Inside Class A, there were two groups fighting to be the boss. One group was led by Arisu Sakayanagi, and the other was led by a student named Kohei Katsuragi. Yahiko was Katsuragi's best friend and his most loyal helper.

During that same cruel Class Poll Exam where every class had to kick someone out, Sakayanagi saw a perfect chance to crush Katsuragi's spirit. She did not want to expel Katsuragi himself, because that would be too easy. Instead, she decided to expel his best friend, Yahiko. Sakayanagi easily convinced the rest of the class that Yahiko was completely average and did not bring any special skills to Class A.

By getting the class to vote out Yahiko, she proved to Katsuragi that she was the absolute boss and that he was too weak to even protect his closest friend. He was kicked out simply because he was friends with the guy who lost the power struggle.

Shiho Manabe: Punished for Her Past

The third student to get expelled in the first year was Shiho Manabe. Her expulsion was a long time coming, and it proves that your past mistakes will always catch up to you at this school.

Manabe was originally in Class C, a class ruled by the violent and tricky student Kakeru Ryuen. Earlier in the school year, during a special exam on a big cruise ship, Manabe and her friends cornered a girl named Kei Karuizawa and bullied her physically.

What Manabe did not know was that Ayanokoji was hiding in the shadows, recording the whole fight on his phone. Ayanokoji used that video to blackmail Manabe. He forced her to become his secret spy and leak important secrets about Ryuen's class.

Months later, during the Class Poll Exam, Ryuen's class had a massive problem. Ryuen had been a terrible, bossy bully to his own classmates, so almost everyone wanted to vote him out. But Ayanokoji stepped in and made a secret deal to buy enough good votes to save Ryuen from being kicked out.

Because Ryuen was saved at the last second, someone else had to take his place and be expelled. Ryuen and his classmates decided to punish Manabe because they figured out she was the one who had leaked their class secrets in the past. She became the perfect scapegoat. Manabe was voted out and sent packing, proving that Ayanokoji uses people like tools and throws them away the second he is done with them.

Airi Sakura: Unimagined Twist

Airi Sakura’s expulsion is one of the saddest moments in the series. During a special exam, the class had to agree to expel one student in order to gain 100 class points. Because they were running out of time, Ayanokoji made a cold, logical choice.

He pointed out that Sakura had the lowest grades and skills in the entire class. Even though Sakura was part of his friend group and had a crush on him, Ayanokoji convinced everyone that letting her go was the only way to save the rest of the class. In the end, a heartbroken Sakura agreed to be expelled to help her classmates.
